Showcaseme in ChatGPT
Build your portfolio website by talking to ChatGPT. Add Showcaseme once, describe the portfolio you want, and ChatGPT designs it, shows you a live preview and saves it to your account.
What it does
Showcaseme runs an MCP server, the open standard ChatGPT uses to work with other apps. Once it is added, ChatGPT can design portfolio templates for any profession, start from Showcaseme's signature designs, show a live preview in the conversation, change a template when you ask, and publish it to your showcaseme.in address.
You stay in control: ChatGPT only gets the permissions you approve, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Requirements
- A Showcaseme Pro or Enterprise account.
- A ChatGPT account whose plan or workspace allows adding plugins.
Add Showcaseme to ChatGPT
Showcaseme is in review for ChatGPT's plugin directory. Until it is listed, add it as a custom MCP server. It takes about two minutes:
- 1
Open ChatGPT
Sign in at chatgpt.com and open Plugins.
- 2
Add a custom MCP server
Click the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- 3
Name it and paste the URL
Name it Showcaseme, paste https://mcp.showcaseme.in/mcp as the server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
- 4
Confirm and create
Read the warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- 5
Sign in and allow access
ChatGPT opens showcaseme.in. Sign in if asked, check the permissions and click Allow. ChatGPT never sees your password.
- 6
Ask for a portfolio
In a new chat, type @, pick Showcaseme and describe the portfolio you want.
Showcaseme MCP server URL
https://mcp.showcaseme.in/mcpWhat ChatGPT can do
ChatGPT uses these Showcaseme tools. Each one needs a permission you approve when you connect.
| Tool | What it does | Permission |
|---|---|---|
| get_design_system | Gives the assistant Showcaseme's template rules, sections, layouts and an example before it designs a template from scratch. | Always available |
| list_signature_templates | Lists Showcaseme's signature designs to start from. | View templates |
| start_from_template | Starts a new template from a signature design or one of yours, with your colours, fonts and sections. The original never changes. | Create templates |
| save_portfolio_template | Checks a new template against Showcaseme's rules and saves it to your account as a draft. If a rule fails, nothing is saved and the reply says what to fix. | Create templates |
| validate_template_quality | Checks a design and suggests improvements without saving it. | Create templates |
| preview_template | Shows a live preview of one of your templates in the conversation, with a link to open it full screen. | View templates |
| list_templates | Lists your saved templates, newest first. | View templates |
| get_template | Reads one of your templates back so the assistant can change it, even in a later chat. | View templates |
| patch_portfolio_template | Makes targeted changes to a saved template, such as colours, fonts or one section. If the template is live, your public portfolio changes at once. | Create templates |
| update_portfolio_template | Replaces a saved template with a full redesign. If the template is live, your public portfolio changes at once. | Create templates |
| deploy_template | Publishes a saved template as your live portfolio, after you confirm. | Deploy templates |
Example prompts
Be specific about the type of portfolio, the mood, the colours and what you want to show off first. For example:
- “Create a dark developer portfolio with neon accents and a particle background”
- “Design a minimal photographer portfolio with a big gallery and serif headings”
- “Show my saved templates and preview the latest one”
- “Make a winter-themed UI/UX portfolio with snowfall and glass cards”
Security and privacy
- You approve access on showcaseme.in using OAuth with PKCE. ChatGPT never receives your password.
- ChatGPT gets only three permissions: view, create and publish templates. Nothing else in your account.
- Access tokens expire after one hour and renew automatically. A copied token stops working.
- Everything ChatGPT sends is size-limited and checked before it reaches your account.
- Disconnecting ends ChatGPT's access immediately.
Disconnect
Go to Dashboard, Integrations, ChatGPT and choose Disconnect next to ChatGPT. You can also remove Showcaseme from ChatGPT's Plugins.
Troubleshooting
- You can't find Add custom MCP server
- Your ChatGPT plan or workspace decides whether you can add one. On a Business or Enterprise workspace, ask your admin to allow custom plugins.
- Showcaseme says it needs a Pro plan
- Showcaseme in ChatGPT is part of Showcaseme Pro and Enterprise. Upgrade under Dashboard, then Billing, then sign in from ChatGPT again.
- The approval page keeps sending you back to sign in
- Sign in at showcaseme.in in the same browser first, then connect again from ChatGPT.
- It worked before and now every request fails
- Access was disconnected, from your dashboard or after a security update on our side. Connect again from ChatGPT and approve once.
- ChatGPT says a template could not be saved
- Ask ChatGPT to run the quality check and fix what it reports. The check names each problem, such as a layout Showcaseme does not support.
FAQ
Which plan do I need?+
Showcaseme Pro or Enterprise. On the ChatGPT side, your plan or workspace needs to allow adding plugins.
Is it the same as the Claude connector?+
Yes. ChatGPT and Claude use the same Showcaseme server, tools and permissions, and templates made in either one appear in the same account.
Does ChatGPT see my password?+
No. You approve on showcaseme.in with OAuth. ChatGPT receives a short-lived token for the permissions you allowed, never your password.
Where do templates made in ChatGPT go?+
To Dashboard, then Templates, in your Showcaseme account. You can keep editing them by hand.
Can ChatGPT publish my portfolio?+
Yes, when you ask it to. Publishing replaces your live portfolio, so ChatGPT confirms with you first.
Can ChatGPT read my personal details?+
No. The connection works with templates only. It cannot read your messages, billing or profile details.
How do I stop access?+
Go to Dashboard, then Integrations, then ChatGPT, and choose Disconnect. Access ends immediately.
