How Mio Turns a Resume Into a Portfolio in Seconds

Team Showcaseme·22 July 2026·6 min read

"Upload a resume, get a portfolio" sounds simple, but there's real work happening behind it. Here's the honest version of what our AI system, Mio, actually does.

Step 1: Parsing

When you upload a resume, the system extracts structured data out of an unstructured document — your name, contact details, work experience, education, skills, and projects — regardless of how your specific resume is formatted. Resumes vary wildly in layout, so this step is doing more than a simple find-and-replace; it's identifying what's actually a job title versus a company name versus a date range.

Step 2: Structuring into sections

Once the data is extracted, it's mapped into portfolio sections — bio, experience, projects, skills, education — based on the portfolio type you're building (developer, photographer, or UI/UX). This is where the profession-specific structure from our templates actually matters: a developer's "projects" section needs different fields than a photographer's "gallery."

Step 3: A first draft, ready to edit

The output isn't a final, locked page — it's a real first draft in your dashboard that you can edit like anything else: rewrite the bio, reorder sections, swap the template, add photos. The point of the AI step is to get you from zero to something reasonable in seconds, not to make every decision for you.

What this doesn't do

Mio doesn't invent experience you don't have, and it doesn't fabricate projects. It's a parsing and structuring tool, not a content-generation tool pretending to be your career history. Anything it gets wrong (a misread date, a merged job title) is editable in the same dashboard.

If you haven't tried it yet, upload your resume and see the first draft for yourself — it typically takes under a minute.
