MongoDB.local Bengaluru: Vector Search, AI in Production and a Silver Badge
Aravind Nethi5 min readOn 30 June 2026, I attended MongoDB.local Bengaluru on an exclusive invitation that came to Showcaseme. It turned out to be an incredible day of learning, networking and hands-on exposure to the latest advancements in AI.
A few moments that stayed with me.
1. MongoDB is going well beyond JSON documents
One of the biggest highlights was the session by Field AI CTO Pete Johnson on the evolving AI ecosystem. It was exciting to learn about Voyage AI and how MongoDB is expanding beyond traditional JSON document storage into enterprise-grade vector search, with advanced search layers and a cloud-native architecture.
For anyone building AI products, that matters. Your data, its embeddings and the search over them can live in one place instead of being stitched together across separate systems.
2. AI in production, from the people running it
I also attended an engaging discussion with leaders from Emergent AI and Observe.ai. They shared how they use AI in production and why MongoDB has become a key part of their technology stack.
Demos are easy to admire. What I value most at events like this are the real engineering stories: what broke, what scaled, and what it took to move from an idea to something customers rely on every day. Hearing those adoption journeys was truly inspiring.
3. Multimodal AI is becoming the product
The AWS Lounge sessions gave a great overview of building applications with multimodal AI models. That was followed by a session on enterprise AI platforms and multimodal workflows: text to video, image to video generation, and how these experiences are powered by MongoDB's AI ecosystem.
Text was the beginning. Products now need to work with images, video and voice as naturally as they work with words, and the data layer has to keep up.
4. The fun part: quizzes, swag and a Stamp Quest
Between sessions, I took on the booth challenges across the partner stalls. I was fortunate to finish in the Top 13 in two different quizzes, which came with some awesome MongoDB swag.
To wrap up the day, I completed the Stamp Quest and earned the Silver Badge, along with another cool event collectible.
What it means for Showcaseme
MongoDB is part of how Showcaseme runs today, so this was not an abstract day for me. Every talk on vector search, AI in production and multimodal workflows came back to the same question: how do we help people show their work better, faster and more intelligently?
- Search and AI work best close to the data, not bolted on beside it.
- Production stories beat demos. Reliability is the real feature.
- Portfolios are visual. Multimodal AI is a natural fit for what we build.
My biggest takeaway
Events like these remind me how quickly the AI ecosystem is evolving, and why it is so important to stay curious, keep learning and keep building impactful products.
A huge thank you to the MongoDB team for organising such a wonderful event, and to everyone I met there for the conversations. Looking forward to many more community events.
If you were at MongoDB.local Bengaluru too, or you are building with vector search and multimodal AI, I would love to hear from you. You can find me on the author page.
Stay curious. Keep learning. Keep building.
